Joy mixed with TWAIN

THE ADVENTURE OF TOM SAWYER
New victory Theatre, 209 W. 42nd St. 646-223-3010. To Sunday.

Even Mark Twain would now play to the new victory Theatre "The adventures of Tom Sawyer": not only is this child-friendly format version faithful to the text and the spirit of his work, but it not the darker aspects of a story, whitewash, set in the 1840s Missouri.

Laura EASON adaptation intact includes large parts of the original text with its distinctive vernacular. The well-known episodes unfold, one after another: Tom fool his friends to help him the fence, its advertising the beautiful Becky Thatcher, the murder of doc Robinson of the villain, Injun Joe and Tom and Beckys hair-raising adventure into the cave to paint.

Jeremy B. Cohen production used, movement and music, things that makes use in breakneck speed to keep, and Daniel Ostling diverse group minimum elements - a table, chairs, bed, stairs, a huge sheet - to maximum effect. The production, originally seen in Hartford Connecticut, possessing an excellent adult ensemble. Tim McKiernan and Hayley aroma shower make one appealing Tom and Becky, while the rest of the other characters play and parts in the occasional narrative.

If you have children, debts you you, this show to see before it leaves town Sunday. And if you don't owe you it themselves.
